Meet our Events Manager, Adrian Eyre
Tell me about your career path and how you got to The Media Group?
My background is in electronic engineering, and I spent twelve years as an Engineer for Rank Xerox. I also worked in Commercial Radio as a presenter, producer and voiceover.
I then joined Derby County Football Club to run the in-house stadium TV in 1998. One of the reporters I came into contact with was The Media Group’s now chairman Keith Daniell, who was a journalist and reporter for ITV Central.
I joined The Media Group in early 2003 to manage their events division.
What are you working on right now?
I’m just back from London having delivered the #BeAGameChanger Awards for the Women’s Sport Trust. It’s a great event to work on and we won the Best Awards Scheme at last year’s UK Event Awards.
Next up is a series of Futsal events for The FA. I love the atmosphere of sports presentation and can’t wait to get started. It’s our job to make everything look great and run like clockwork.
What’s your favourite piece of work?
We’ve been involved in lots of high-profile events so it’s difficult to choose one. It would probably be working on The FA Umbro Fives Grand Finals at Wembley Stadium. It’s a huge logistical challenge and incredibly hard work. But it’s rewarding to deliver an event that the players will remember for the rest of their lives.
What does it take to be a good Events Manager?
An obsessive attention to detail. You need to have an answer for problems that the client doesn’t yet know that they have. And a thick skin to deal with last minute running order changes!
What do you get up to outside the office?
Archery, cycling and dog walking.
The Pembrokeshire Coast. Mobile phones don’t work and it is like taking a step back to a slower-moving more peaceful time.
