Looking back on 2015

A blog from our Chairman, Keith Daniell

My year began with a change in role. After 14 years building The Media Group, from my kitchen to the agency it is today, I took a step back from the day-to-day management to become Chairman. The time was right. And it was much easier than it sounds due to the fantastic team we have in place.

I’m still actively involved in our projects, but wheeled in on a consultative basis. I’m also delivering more strategic communications training – helping individuals and companies with messaging as well as presentation and media skills. It’s something I love doing and it’s a privilege to be able to do it around the world.

Away from work, 2015 has been a busy year for our team. Two engagements, three babies and one wedding suggests there might be something in the water at our new office!

The agency world
I’ve seen trends and buzzwords come and go, but the job of an agency stays the same. We use creativity and strategy to improve our clients’ business performance.

Our proposition as an agency is that we make things happen. We’re at our best when clients tell us what they are trying to achieve, or a problem they are having, and our team will successfully deliver.

Client relationships
I firmly believe that clients will get more value from long-term relationships with agencies. We’re proud to have built long-term partnerships with brands, businesses and start-ups from across the UK.

And our new business team has developed fantastic new relationships with brands including Boots Opticians, The Nottingham, Great Ormond Street Hospital and GBG. We’re delighted to be working with them and believe these relationships will be just as productive.

And the award goes to…
A great measure of our success is our clients’ businesses performing well. We’re proud to have played a part in award-winning projects for HUUB, who we started working with as a young start-up. They’ve just been named as a runner up in the best small business in the UK, after sweeping the board regionally.

And the Women’s Sport Trust, a new charity who asked us to run an inaugural awards ceremony with them in the summer, has just won the UK Events Award for the Awards Scheme of the Year.

Another long-standing client, the Sport and Recreation Alliance, are up for a Public Affairs Award for their Mental Health Charter campaign, which our designers helped them to produce.

Our team is immensely proud when their work delivers results for our clients. It’s why we’re all here.

Looking forward
Our goals remain the same. We continually strive to improve what we do and to deliver a better customer experience. And we’re honest, fair and we do it all with a smile on our face.

I would like to wish all our clients, partners and suppliers a prosperous 2016. We look forward to working with you.
